Design Systemic Components

The original site was not easily accessible for frequent content updates. The UI did not reflect A+E’s new brand aesthetic as a media company nor did it appeal to potential job seekers or Ad sales teams. There lacked an aesthetic balance between written and visual content for users to comprehend and digest.

CONTEXT

Due to infrequent up-keep, most of the site’s content was outdated. The entire redesign and reconstruction of the site was given a nearly inconceivable scope of 3 months to complete. This scope included ideation, discovery, design, critique with many stakeholders, remote frontend and backend development, implementation, QA, UAT, and delivery.

CONCEPT

Visual media content would be the foreground for a user’s appeal and captivity. A minimalistic approach to the site’s global navigation would keep users engaged with the most relevant information. The site would use Wordpress’s CMS which allows for multiple producers to easily update content without relying on a developer. This new site would be an immersive experience that accentuated our brands, content, and shows. Big bold imagery with fine lines, black and white contrast, smooth transitions, and an accentuation of typography were to be used to elegantly highlight A+E Networks.

OUTCOME

After 5 months of dedicated collaboration between design, development, and compliance, the site was launched. Content producers were given the green-light and ability to go in via a CMS and upload content as frequently as need. The sites componentized structure allowed content producers to create pages as needed without the immediate use of a dedicated designer. Each page is made up of individual components that any producer could pick and choose from to form a cohesive page on the site to showcase content. View Website
